Staggered Snowplow: anyone ever do this? Is it a Rodney Dangerfield "... hey, but it looks good on you!" where it may not be textbook, but if it works for me?
Ok, found some film clips of new and old that reinforces my "discovery" of this, that I'm on the right track. Also widening stance fore-aft for those rolling dips on trails.

I have always liked this part of the video, where he intentionally steps on the tail of his front ski with his back ski to demonstrate what to not do.
It took me a few viewings to figure out he hadn’t fallen accidentally.
It’s also interesting to see him sometimes doing a double pole plant for his turns.

Scraping off 4-5' of sticky wax, TP and iron, re-scrape including groove. Guess I need to hit 'em with de-wax solvent next, and then, which glide wax to use? Coldest I have? Just find some Polar kick wax and iron that in? Hmm...

I’d hot scrape them at least once, using the softest glide wax you have. Then wax remover. Then iron in the glide wax of the day… or the hardest glide wax you can find.
We dreamed of riding waves of air, water, snow, and energy for centuries. When the conditions were right, the things we needed to achieve this came into being. Every idea man has ever had up to that point about time and space were changed. And it keeps on changing whenever we dream. Bio mechanical jazz, man.

Soft as in warmest temp rating, and hard as in coldest, or like tires where softer is for colder and harder is for warmer temps?

These Fishers (66/59/55mm, tip/mid/tail?) have full-metal edge and are fairly flat compared to the Karhu Kodiak 205 Edge (60/52/57) I skied down 1,600' from the hut after uphilling (snowshoe) at the resort the other day. I'd like to see how they compare to those 3-pins.

The binding levers are labeled "Bla<c>k Diamond", which helps date them a bit.

Any ideas what bindings where on the 10 skis without, and how they rank as far as "keepers"?
Even ranking 1-10 (easy to hard) which would be good for learning tele' and or in what conditions?
https://telemarktalk.com/viewtopic.php? ... =10#p54112

I'd like to avoid re-drilling. If any are a no-go for 3-pin leather Merrils (shown), feel free to say so. For reference, I took photos with a ruler lengthwise, then farther down in the thread, across. It might help to right-click or alt-click to "Open Image in New Tab" to allow zooming in. Some have screw holes, others inserts, some like the blue/yellow K2s have both. To date, I've only been using the Karhu Kodiaks and Fischer America 109s

My guess to date is longest ones are for BC XC and flat tracks, then the Piste/Stinx stuff for resort and downhill/alpine, not that one couldn't be forced to do X with Y. Karhus being pretty trad nordic for classic kicking with double camber and only a middle edge (metal), Fischer Am' 109st more well-rounded, Elan/Rossi/Phoenix/BD similar to 109st, #7-9 resort, with #10-12 leaning to more powder, and the Scotty Bobtails (lots of camber) with dissimilar edges a bit of a niche. Three of the K2s have tip-holes, 1/2" dia or so.

@TallGrass

Below is a link from Pinnah’s Site on backcountry skis. It might help you to see what he thought of the ski's intended use at time of manufacture.
https://web.archive.org/web/20151002150 ... -skis.html

For me I prefer to have a straighter, lighter, double camber go fast ski. Then I want a ski that kicks and turns. Lastly I want a turning ski.

I don’t know what you weigh or the length of those E-109. I think those may be keepers.
The bindings on the Karhu are Rottefella Super Telemark bindings those are keepers.
I personally wouldn’t worry in the least about drilling holes. I would definitely try those K2’s and Scotty Bobs, one of those skis has got to be suitable for on piste and touring for turns.
You really don’t lose buying a binding. My 3-pin Hardwire are on their 3rd pair of skis. I did sell a couple of 3-pin cables mounted on skis, but i wanted to give a guy a reasonable deal. However, it’s not at all uncommon to sell skis without a binding.
I am also curious about those Black Diamond skis. Are they a single camber touring ski?
If you like the Karhu, keep the ST on them, if you like the E-109 maybe mount them ST?
Maybe mount the cable binding on the more downhill oriented skis. If it was me I would buy a new Rottefella Super Telemark with cable, and mount it on the DH ski that made the most sense. The alternative go EBay, and find some Voile cables, or buy new. Mount them and ski them!

No doubt about it, that is a bargain and a half.
The Karhus are simply the XCD-GT ski with a partial metal edge. If they still have some camber, they would make nice trail skis.
The Fischer 109s are stiff flexing on the hill tele skis, without a lot of sidecut and require aggressive technique for turning as they don't really like to turn. At all. Ask me how I know this to be a fact...
Expressos? Good skis for the era, laminated wood core, can't remember if they have metal titanal top sheets, so check to see if they are bent.
Phoenix Classics are Trucker Mountain Edges, reborn under the Phoenix name, made in Boulder, I think. Soft foam crumbly cores but turn very well.
The Elans and the Rossi STS are just vintage intermediate level alpine skis.
The K2 Piste Off are good tele cruising skis, the Off Piste make nice backcountry skis with a soft flex;
The Instinx are girly skis but might turn well for you if you're fairly lighter in wt for your ht.
Scotty Bobs, expensive hand made skis well worth two cases of Budweiser or more. Short turn radius for their length due to the tail design, depending on flex would be good all mountain or powder boards.
Fischer intermediate alpine skis. (?)
Work Stinx, good all mountain tele boards.

Assuming the skis are not bent, or flat cambered, or delaminating, I think you got your money's worth.
If you got those in Summit there's a good chance I sold a few of them to the original owners. But maybe not.
