I don’t know anyone, who’s using telemark skis On this video I can see that soft (compared to plastic ones) shoes, Rottefella Xplore bindings and Madshus skis is ok for riding downhill. I’ll be focused more on touring, but if the person from the video is skiing so easily, this means it’s possible and can be learned

I hope it will be stiff and responsive enough just to learn how to ski on telemark skis.
My experience with both of those skis is that I personally have no use for the narrower 68 at my weight (81kg)- I don't find it stable enough in deep snow- I much prefer the wider 78. My oldest son loves the 68, but he is significantly lighter than me.
Why would you choose the 68 vs 78?

On the subject of skins- are you considering climbing skins or kicker skins- or both?

I’m 40 and I don’t mind learning and falling. Hopefully not breaking anything Many years ago I just tried my first skis and learned how to turn and stop in one day, without any instructor. Hope it will be same this time. About additional skins - something that will give me more grip, when going up on more steep slope or just pulling sledge with my kid.
You’re 20+ years younger than lowangle al. Guy looks mid 60s. That’s a lot of fitness, potential for learning. The gear Lilcliffy and you were talking about work great in the conditions described.

I believe you would be light years ahead with a Falketind Xplore, they are fully supportive over their length, but I ski mine at 196 cm. I know they out perform greatly an S-112, up, down, hard or soft snow, and when snow is around freezing and scales perform well, the X-skin shines.
Just my 2 cents.
…and for the in for a dime in for a dollar, if someone tells you boot sole stiffness doesn’t matter for Telemark, they don’t know SH-t about Telemark!

Have you used any of the gear that you just recommended? I have. M78s track poorly on firm snow. In fact, IMO, the Vectors or Objectives k+g better. The M68s track a little bit better but just ok. The m78s are pretty wide for soft boots and actually pair well with Excursions while the m68s are a better compromise if using heavish leathers.
A good compromise for OP may be a pair of 199 fischer t78s with ez skins, nnnbc and Alaska BCs.
Not sure what thread you’re reading. I didn’t recommend anything. Suggested the OP was on the right track. Listed attributes of wide, narrow skis. Lilcliffy positively commented on the M78. Go hump on his leg.
Don’t have a problem with your recommendation. Sensibly steered away from plastic boot BS. Conditions don’t require it. Alaskas safe choice. XPlore binding. Be done with it.
