You don’t start many threads. Pile on 3-4 in as little as 19 minutes.

Alfa Free (as show in the "Rottefella Xplore test video) has plastic reinforcements a bit like the old Asolo Extreme and is much more supportive than normal leather boots. It is also less warm and can crunch toes and is not the best boot for covering distances and low angle terrain, but more for up-/downhill tours. I have 25 years of skiing experience on both XCD and telemark, and would also choose a plastic boot for skiing wider skis on anything else than loose snow. The Falketind and Alfa Free shown in the video looks to cover the gap between XC/XCD skiing and telemark backcountry skiing, and I really want to test it. It is a 62mm waist ski though, so a wider waist ski will usually float better in soft snow.

The Rossignol BC 100 got a very good test in the Norwegian Utemagasinet.no; the low tip may even be an advantage when skiing deep snow as the tips will not seek the surface as much and thus not resist forward movement as much on flats or uphills. It is described as having 45 cm rocker, soft flexing but stiffer to the rear, being very light, with a 80 cm centered waxless pattern. It also grips well on hard snow, but is challenging on soft snow and thus not a very good option if downhill skiing and turning in deep snow is your priority. Good luck.

BC100 is a good ski. Flex, scale grip is ok when the snow is soft. Not too rough in powder. Tracks well. Soft rocker like most Rossignols. Easy to find. Go on sale a lot. Not expensive. Good buy and try ski. Not bad choice for easing back in.
