Let's talk poles

They are great poles. And combined with baskets in 90mm,100mm, and 120mm from wolverine snow products in Revelstoke

Anyone have success in replacing lost baskets? I lost one in the snow last night and could not recover it.

I ended up ordering BD traverse poles. Thanks everyone

I use the the BD Traverse 155 too but I put these 120mm baskets on them, they screw right on to BD poles.

But if I don't need adjustable poles or safety release, I prefer old thrift/classifieds XC touring poles. The 1980s ones are 15-16mm diameter with minimal taper and are super stiff and robust, and have better touring baskets than anything you see in stores today.

Swix leather touring baskets are still available and are great, but only work with their Mountain series touring poles if I am not mistaken.

Large round baskets you can still get for all poles, large shaped ones are not made anymore (at best you can DIY chop the front off of 100mm solid plastic baskets).

Those old Excel Arctic poles, and baskets, were awesome! I still lament having lost one (and never finding a replacement) ages ago. Noting this because those baskets will not fit the current crop of poles commonly used (Leki's, BD's, etc.). Different ferrule.
