It was better then. Coming from a guy that grew up not wearing a seatbelt. Bike helmets didn’t exist when I was a kid.
That was just what I thought about when I saw this poster. Perhaps others have a different perspective?

I feel like the helmet bullying went into overdrive after the pandemic and the idea that "we are all in this together". I'm surprised people aren't wearing helmets in vehicles yet. They don't care about you, it's about public health. But not a damn word about obesity

I was at the ski hill on a sunny, 40 something degree day (there was nothing to ski but man made in my area). The only people skiing no helmet, and sunglasses was us guys that had that special gray haired privilege of dispensing with helmets and googles!
I do respect people that make informed personal decisions, even when counter to the hive mentality.

what happened was the old skool liberals gave birth to the Neo-liberals. and no ones happy with the results...
I believe Alexander Dugen describes this new philosophy here

No helmet mandates in the backcountry! Just trees, rocks, and dropoffs. I didn't ski when I was a kid but I did do basically the same thing on bicycles and we called those kinds of obstacles "fun." No helmet then either!

I did listen to all of this and was glad that I did so without wearing a helmet.

Thanks for introducing me to that. I'd not heard of this guy before. The Russian, that is. I don't know much about his other ideas but I'd say this discussion was spot on my observation.

Didn't listen to the whole 20 minutes but did some Googling. It is interesting to hear the opinion of a man described a neo fascist (whatever that means), give his opinion on neo liberalism (whatever that means).

When I started skiing in the late 50's, no one wore a helmet. OTOH, your ticket was taken if a patroller saw you get any air under your skis. Releasable bindings, what is that all about?

In regards to the poster, I was lamenting a time when as a people our character was a bit more rugged.

That actually aligns with the video posted by @blitzskier , which I enjoyed very much. I will need to read Alexander Dugan. The fact his writing is not available in the USA makes his writing more desirable to me.

Can someone recommend a European book retailer from whom I may be able to purchase Dugan’s work?

Are the helmets to protect you against the unmarried ski instructors?

This is hilarious (except it ain’t).
Love it when the far-right whines that the far-left is trying to restrict their freedoms (uncle Joe wont let me buy Dugan’s books in ‘merica), when, in reality … You can. I’d be surprised if 1/2 the far-righters have the processing power to follow Dugan’s thought processes — whether you like him or not, it’s some deep thinking.
But, but, isn’t it the far-right that wants to keep us from reading certain books by taking them out of libraries (but I guess they feel justified in protecting all of us from “wokeness”).
The whole hot mess is a tragic joke on humanity…
Wake me up when we get to the Matrix stop so I can crawl into my comfy non-human dream shell…
