Foliage coming fast and beautiful. Still summer but the slant of the Sun is doing its thing. TM

Salmon camp has come and gone, last week. If one is in tune with the Great Lakes, tasty salmon or not so tasty zombies will be available through the end of the month. Silver maples and walnuts in my yard are leaving a few leaves on the grass, and under the hickory tree it’s a mess of opened shells. It’s a slow change here, I’m hoping for more snow than last year. It’s been that way for over sixty years!

Being old and a kid at the same time is difficult! First snow and the little boy is out there in the highlands. Walked up to one of my last refuges and it was good. Openings galore and right next to where there is parking. Very few people follow that track up but when they do, they get a beautiful short run down. Trees are changing pretty fast with much too much warmth. Need COLD and snow as soon as Nature does its thing. Can't do much with my wood as it is too hot! TM

Should be peak color 7-10 days. Possibly earlier as the color is developing by the hour, TM

Up in the Gap (2200FT) leaves went from almost there to all there. Peaking out in the gap and up on Teleknob. Beautiful up there. TM

Just starting to see a touch of color at 42 40’ N

The tree frogs are having a full blown symphony for me here tonight. Sometimes I just love my backyard

Frogs singing, a different symphony. Color is subdued with beautiful depth. Not high wicked gloss, just depth. Two hundred verts below the Gap mostly green, still. Ferns in a wild color event. No frost so that plays into it too. TM

This time of year is always eye bending. Total color and with almost no wind and ditto with rain, gravity has not yet won the battle. Color is wonderful and just a hint of leaves fading away. TM
