Cross-country AND down-hill skiing in the backcountry.
Unashamed to be a "cross-country type" and love skiing down-hill.

Re: Voile 3-Pin Cable Traverse Binding
I still have a whole month of house work here before I can start dreaming about touring again... ; )
The traverse has been previously discussed here in other threads... It's just a normal 3pc binding bundled with V-Risers and climbing heels... NOT compatible with standard NN 15mm duckbills...

The 10mm riser will feel better in deep, soft snow, compared to 20mm. It's weird that half the plastic cost twice as much.

I find the 20mm V-risers a bit heavy... I'm always a bit reluctant about installing them on my skis...
Sometimes I use the old CRB plates as risers, which are about 5mm...

Do you guys normally use 3pin bindings mounted without risers? For backcountry, I've preferred no riser, but only use them to get the ramp angle because of rockered plastic boots. Less rise feels like a better match with softer boots, considering leverage and all.

I never use them... I like to be as close as possible to the snow...
But I have a few pairs on skinny skis for resort/groomers use only...
