Yep, that is the fun part. To me it's like getting something for nothing. You kick a little and then you get the free glide and when you get to the top and head back down you really get the payoff.

The fellas that designed the Kom used to work in the Quebec Karhu factory- made Karhu XCD skis for years...
That's why I was so curious about it... If the guys spent years designing Karhu skis, why work on a XCD-focused ski heavier ski than the Guides? (I guess I'll have to try a pair to fall in love with the koms... ; )

I know I know, people WANT fat skis..

Frank, one of Altai Ski founder is a newly registered member here... I'm sure he would be happy to tell us everything we wanna know about the Koms... 8-)

The Losers: Those who still believe in Telemark after all these years. Whether it's XCD or world-cup racing, pins or NTN, leathers or plastics, carving or skidding, lurks or double-plants, skinnies or WC skis, touring in underwear etc.

The Winners: Those who still believe in Alpine Touring after all these years. As long as it involves Dynafit or Black Diamond, PHAT skis, Marker or Diamir, having new apparel every year, the Sierras or the Chic-Chocs, heli-ski in India, touring in tights etc.

The Big Winners: Those who still believe after all these years that Cross-Country Downhill is something that should NOT be done with XC gear.

Thank God I'm still a loser... (I hope age and money will never make me a winner...)

Age and money will not make you a winner, so don't worry :) I've been a loser all my life, so I don't see that changing. Thing is, a lot of 'winners' are losers too, because well, you really can only have one winner... so that leaves a lot of people out. Accept who you are, you are most likely a loser too.

I STILL BELIEVE!

I guess that makes me a "loser" as well.

Although it is hard to feel like a loser when I am free-heel flying!
Cross-country AND down-hill skiing in the backcountry.
Unashamed to be a "cross-country type" and love skiing down-hill.
