Scarpa T4 sizing

So, just curious as I may invest in a pair myself at some point, can anyone offer definitive descriptions of the widths of these boots, the Excursion, T4, and Svartisen? My foot length is a 26.5 mondo, so like, 8/8.5 US or 41.5/42 EU, but I sometimes encounter issues with narrower soled shoes, like my Rossi race boots, which are plenty long at 42EU but still on the tight end width wise. My foot is just a hair over 100mm wide, so I'm generally fine with either a W or a larger 8.5/42 when it comes to shoes. I think I recall having read somewhere on here a while back that Scarpas generally run narrow, but I'm not certain. Is that the case? Should wider footed people avoid T4s or am I completely wrong?

I don't think that holds true anymore with mouldable liners. My foot measures 26 x 113 that's a EEEE width. I wore 26.5 T2 ecos which were tight but fit. My T4s are a 27.5 and are very comfortable on my feet.

I figured out the problem with the ankle pain I got from my T4s. As I suspected the seam on the edge of the tongue falls right on my inside ankle bone. To make things worse, over time the seam started to curl up becoming thicker, causing more pressure. To fix the problem I reluctantly cut about an inch of the seam away where it had contacted the ankle bone and no more pain.

Since there seems to be some renewed interest in these boots I made an update to an old review in "community ski reviews" for anyone interested.

To make things worse, over time the seam started to curl up becoming thicker, causing more pressure. To fix the problem I reluctantly cut about an inch of the seam away where it had contacted the ankle bone and no more pain.

Interesting. I skied two different generations of the T4's, and I suffered with blisters below the outside ankle bone. The newest generation T4 with the heat moldable liners were a bit better, but I finally had to give them up, and I moved on to the T2's. The T2's are a joy for my feet in comparison. I tried all kinds of variations of socks, liners; top buckle loose, top buckle tight; but ended up having to use a blister pad before each outing. I also tried to compress the rubbing area by using a couple of c clamps and a spoon after heating the liner with a heat gun, but it didn't help me. I really like the performance of the T4's and their form factor, and if they ever do a redesign, I'd give them another try.

That's too bad Tom, I bet it was that seam on the tongue. I also tried everything I could with poor results, but snipping off an inch of that seam worked, discomfort gone.

I had issue with T1 seam on tongue on new boots. The middle of the tongue is a stiff plastic and the sides of the tongue are a more compliant neoprene; however, one of the sides was all messed up, causing the stiff plastic seam to contact the top of my foot.

Not sure of the exact root cause, but I allege that one of the boots was improperly buckled during storage in the warehouse prior to my purchase. After a proper heat molding, I anticipated a few days of skiing would iron out the nuisance. Alas, it caused a sore on the top of my foot with a lot of discomfort.

A razor and some emery cloth to shave and smooth the rough plastic seam I hope will do the trick. It feels good around the house, but waiting for my next ski trip to give it a proper test run.
