Leather boots care and maintenance

Yeah soaking boots sounds weird... But I'll grab some cream and give it a try... Time for a bath, Alaskas...!

Didn't treat them yet... Mike bought me the Zamberlan spray... But apparently, I need the cream...

I'll wait until next time I go to Montreal to buy the cream and I'll give them a good bath... Hopefully they will turn reddish like the latest version of the Alaskas...! (I wonder if the new ones are really red, or if it's just the new picture itself that is less orange...)

I am under the impression that they are the same color- orangy-red.

They will turn red once they are treated with a "cream" product. My Alaskas (same vintage as yours) were definitely orangy out of the box- but are now a deep red.

All of the advertised photos of the Alaska seem to be treated, showing that deep red color.

They definitely removed the orange from the laces and lace loop, which looks nice IMO. And that picture makes them look RED.

No matter... I'm hoping the NNN BC pair I have lasts me 15-20 years... I don't see why they wouldn't

Who makes those boots? See a (rubber?) band around the bottoms.....Does that restrict the leather in any way?....Do they remain soft? I know you seem to like the boots stiff but soft easy flexing boots don't hurt our feeling one bit....Reason for asking is that Andrews Tele Boots now have the same or looks the same band around them....And if memory serves....they are also red....Just wondering and getting some feed back....My Andrews are a shoe gue special....Brown Rossies are good to go but my lace-ups....are heading to shoe gue world.....TM

Teleman- these boots are torsionally rigid, from the ankle down- but they have only a moderate-flex, allowing a very natural foot-roll and stride. Above the ankle they are very soft- facilitating a full range of motion. IMO- these boots are designed for striding, not steering.

I love them precisely because they are not rigid.

Are they supportive enough to downhill ski in them- depends on one's technique- doesn't it?

For us any leather boot we can get....Teleking likes the Asolo Extreme....but we take what we can get....Mostly from second hand stores...Boots don't change our style of skiing the way a ski can....TM
