Re: Binding Screw Glue
Figured I'd ask this here: Regarding mounting Voile 3 pin bindings to a Voile riser
I have in my quiver (and I see this often too) Voile 3 pin bindings mounted to a voile riser, mounted to the ski. You use the riser cause it has 4 screws for stronger mount. The binding screws in on top.
My question is what glue are people using to mount the binding to the riser? Personally I used GG last time I mounted some up, I had it handy since I had just used it to mount the riser to the ski as recommended by Voile. My caveat is that the binding covers access to the front two screws on the riser so I can't get a posidrive on them to make sure they're not loose.
I called to ask Voile about this before I mounted them, but the kid who answered had no idea what I was talking about...bummer. The shop that sold me the skis & bindings told me they used wood glue for screwing the binding onto the riser I remember. It's annoying because these are the only skis in the quiver that I can't check all the screws on.
Is it a bad idea to break the 3 screws loose that hold the binding on, so that I can check the riser. Wondering if the GG I used on the plastic riser will trash the riser if I break them loose. Finally, what would be good to use on the screws if I were to do it again? Something like loctite that is safe w/ plastic? I don't remember using anything when I'd move bindings around on race skis with race plates.
Anyone here got experience with this?
I saw the comments above about PU glues like GG and how removing screws can be problematic. So, considerations for next time?

Re: Binding Screw Glue
I’m sure the gorilla glue is fine. It is one of the glues people use, gorilla glue, Tite bond, epoxy. I haven’t read about bindings ripping out and the common thread is gorilla glue.
It seems like Voile 4 hole mounts are pretty secure, and nobody else with a Voile 4 hole mount can check the screws either. Personally I would not sweat it, but if it’s going to be on your mind, especially heading into the backcountry, then pull the binding and check the screws. The Voile plastic riser, per Voile is reliable for 3 or 4 mounts.
Good luck

Re: Binding Screw Glue
Update:
Got the Voile 3 pin cable traverse in the mail yesterday -
Instructions say mount the riser to ski w/ glue/epoxy.
Do not use glue/epoxy on the 3 screws holding the binding to the riser.

The second should be obvious. Also, if you ever move the binding, when remounting, backward turn the binding-riser screws first until it drops into the old threads, and then screw down. You'll get more out of the plastic riser that way, instead of screwing up the plastic and the cut threads.
