As far as boots, I use the Fischer Comfort Pro.
Cool. Thanks.
This is not enough boot for the touring I do.
But it is good to hear that this boot + the E99/TN66 are ideal in certain applications.
Cross-country AND down-hill skiing in the backcountry.
Unashamed to be a "cross-country type" and love skiing down-hill.

While falling in love requires will and acceptance, being human things can just grab your heart. I took out the new to me E-99’s that I’m hiding from the Smithsonian. First impression is a 1985 Subaru wagon versus the Gamme being an Audi Quattro whatever the top shelf is. I had wet snow so it was slow, but that 210 E99 just doesn’t have much juice in the kick. The old bases aren’t lightning either, but I’m not the lightning I was 30 years ago either.
It is a nice ski. I hit plenty of rocks, one that sent me over the bars going downhill and that’s why I bought that ski. However when I get some coverage the Green Man is coming out of the garage and the speed limit is going up!
Hi @fisheater

I have the very same version and used it for many decades and still use them. They feel unbreakable and they are reliable skis… but they are SLOW. Yes they got older but as far as I can recall they never were fast even when I was way younger myself :? When I got the AGAS I thought those skis, the Europa, could retire but somehow I go back to them especially when the snow cover is thin which frequently represent a major part of my ski season. I don’t know what they made the base with at that time but they are pretty resistant to scratching. It is also the ski I turn to when I have to break trail in the crust or ski in refrozen snow.

Did you have the chance to take them for a few turns? I have skied them with 75 before this year and with the Alaska BC I have really discovered the satisfaction and pleasure of turning them on gentle slope. They are easy to put on edges and the Alaska can easily handle them. I plan to take them on a steeper hill when we finally get more snow. I am sure you would have fun taking them to your local resort when the conditions are right. As you said they are slow and that is due, i think, in good part to the low camber that makes the easy to weight them.

Please take them out for some turn and share your experience!
I had them out some more Martin. Just too slow for me. I think I will send my USGI in for a stone grind and put the binding from the Europa 99 back on the USGI. I really need to find a suitable rock ski. If they teal Gamme didn’t have the ghey Fabio topsheet I might just beat Green Man up on the rocks. I promised myself after I had this white with pink and chartreuse lettered K2 slalom ski, that life is too short to spend a few years on a ski with an abhorrent topsheet. Ghey Fabio Teal Gamme falls into the abhorrent topsheet category.
If you have a US address and you want the Europa I could probably send it your way. I’m done with it.

Funny. I see the PBS painter extraordinaire Bob Ross on the Gamme. And when I buy a pair someday, Ill tur them through “happy little trees”…

agreed! the current gamme is the ugliest ski i have ever seen. life is too short for that topsheet, imho, even if the ski is great.

I almost bought the gammes based on what I have been reading here but because of the ugly design of åsnes I went for some some good old Fischer 20/21 E99, classy and simple

concur - the the fishers have a classy low-key look that is preferable to the look of asnes with the faces. wishing there was availability of e99/tn66 in 210 length, but i'm not finding any. may pick up some used old e99 's or wait til next year.

if anyone reading this spots some e99 /tn66 in 210, please post or drop me a pm. thanks.

I would definitely go Gamme, even if I had to spray a coat over Fabio. It’s a really good ski

EXCEPT now you are here asking for advice on your 'future Gammes'.

You will fit right in here.

I know I just changed my mind, I got the 190 e99 and I thought they were to flexible so they went back to the shop and I am planning to order the 190cm gamme instead even in might tune them with a bit of tape :D

Ha ha! Dude or lady dude, I have a full couple of weeks of sleepless nights when it comes time to buy new skis.

What kind of tuning do you mean?

I have the 200s, by the way. I'm a little shorter but heavier than you. I use them for the longer tur. I think the 190s could well suit you. I suppose they'll be easier for going up hills considering your weight. But they maybe won't have that delirious whizz when you're cruising.
