Bishop new NTN bindings: The BMF-3 and the BMF-R!

Bishop Binding Co., maker of the highest performance telemark bindings on the market, is propelling tele technology forward this season with the unveiling of two new bindings — the BMF-3 for freeheel ripping and the BMF-R for bomber touring and backcountry adventure.

The BMF line of bindings introduces the telemark tribe to true alpine style step-in, a feature found only on downhill and AT bindings until now. And unlike any other telemark bindings, the BMFs are compatible with 75mm and NTN boots thanks to an interchangeable toe piece. Both the BMF-3 and the BMF-R are semi-releasable and have ski brakes, so cumbersome leashes will be a thing of the past.

The BMF-R will make earning your turns easier than ever before with its industry-leading free pivot touring mode. With the simple flip of a lever at the front of the binding, skiers can get rid of the tension of tele mode for an effortless uphill stride. Unlike backcountry telemark bindings currently on the market that have a max free pivot of 30-55 degrees, Bishop’s BMF-R offers an industry-leading 63 degrees of zero-resistance movement.

NEW BINDINGS, SAME BISHOP PERFORMANCE
The BMF line continues Bishop’s long tradition of making the burliest, most reliable and adjustable bindings on the market from their headquarters in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Like their previous release, the 2.0, these revolutionary new telemark bindings will offer Bishop’s beloved Switch Plate Technology, allowing them to be quickly transferred between multiple pairs of skis.

Like all Bishop equipment, the BMF-3 and BMF-R will easily adjust to match the conditions and each person’s freeheeling style. The bindings will attach to the back of the boot, attaching to the true boot heel as opposed to the “second heel” or “duck butt” under the arch of your foot. The true-heel attachment point from binding to boot gives telemark skiers the most progressive, powerful and adjustable feel. The BMF line will improve upon Bishop’s patented Sliding Plate Technology by widening the plate and lowering the boot height for increased connection with the ski and lateral control.

I think these look awesome. I've never skied anything from Bishop, but I've heard nothing but good things.

The ease of step in/getting out also looks substantially better than other bindings out there. As a hopeful ski patroller (someday) I've been looking at the options for easy in/out bindings and most of them look pretty fiddly. Not this one! Their reputation for durability is also appealing. It will be interesting to see what the weight is, but they don't look super heavy.

It is also good to see someone still paying attention to 75mm folks.

Mainer, years ago I was an instructor and my two ski buddies were NSP patrollers. I always had a lot of respect for the amount of time and dedication they put into the patrol. I was also jealous of their first aid training, and their basic mountaineering training. The ski school was not nearly as much work, and I did clinic with some really good skiers so it worked well for me, but patrollers will always have my respect (even if I may tease them about skiing with the parking brake on )

Good to see new development of bindings, the concept however look alot like the Spike Telebulldogs. Have they announced any weight for these bindings?
