Ultimate expedition ski backpack

Post by TeleMarcin » Mon Oct 27, 2014 6:34 am

Most of my ski touring excursions are made from hut to hut, therefore my normal backpack for this is 35/40 liter maximum. Now I am looking for the ski traverse which would demand approximately 2 weeks of autonomy and would carry on winter tent, winter sleeping bag, stove, food and other essentials. Can someone help me to chose the appropriate backpack which would be suitable and will still allow me to make some turns? Any Thoughts?

I have no experience, but an Austrian friend of mine, who has the license of international mountain guide, told me that any backpacks around 50L would suffice even for such long ski tour. Larger backpacks may let you dive into snow while skiing even on AT.
The flowing river never stops and yet the water never stays the same.

I've not done much skiing with a pack, but my one recommendation is be sure it's not too wide. I'm sure you know this from your hut-to-hut pack, but fat packs can make for difficult poling.
