asnes nansen delamination :(

after a great tour today I returned home and later noticed that one of my nansen skis had a big gap between the topsheet and edge, what do I do?

Base on my experience, that’s normal. I’ve got two pairs of ingstads that are in various stages of delamination, and a spot on some ft62s thats beginning to look like Christmas as well. I did get a replacement pair for the first pair, the replacements did the same thing-Surprise! Decided that Ingstads aren’t my thing, expensive, slow, and fragile! Hopefully the ftx will hold together, it’s twice the ski of the ingstads. Have an old pair of James Bond Nansens that are well used and in perfect condition.

I'm wondering if I should try putting put some epoxy in there and clamping it down in an attempt to try and prolong the ski's life a little

picked up some g flex yesterday and will try and fix the ski today, wish me luck!

I'm a bit surprised that this is considered normal by several people here. I really like Åsnes skis but if used within intended use scope i would not expect them to fail catastrophically for several years of good use. I would contact them for a replacement.

The top cap sheet feels like it’s made out of old Solo cups. I have lots of cap skis in good condition after many years of use. More and more we see that light=expensive=relatively fragile. The Uber mentality is hard on landfills and pocketbooks. So is the “what Assnes ski should I get for kinda twisty trails with 2cm of wet new snow on Saturdays????” madness.

I think this is eminently repairable with epoxy and clamps. It looks straightforward enough, assuming the edges are straight and it's just what it looks like in the pictures.

But for a new pair of skis I'd be inclined to drop Åsnes a note with some pictures. This isn't usual. Åsnes's customer service is really friendly and good.
