Ah, I remember the good old days of 10" of snow followed by an inch of rain....wearing garbage bags at Hunter mountain in the late 1960's.

We keep getting dribs and drabs in the Wasatch. The Wasatch Back (DV, PC) has gotten about 60" this season. The front about 110". And the big winner out here is (as usual) Grand Targhee at 148". It is what it is.
My son is in Alaska where Alyeska and surrounding area is at 20 feet.

It's not the northeast if it doesn't rain and then freeze over the goods. But this one is going to hurt, especially up north where they didn't get the dump we did. Sunday River is looking at 2-3" of rain. It's going to blow them out, especially since they didn't get much and are struggling with the base to begin with. We are restarting the pack at zero. At least it's December and not March.

Agreed! It was really good while it lasted. Really good. I am exhausted, I've been going out twice a day.

But it's almost abusive, right? It snows, it's good, and GO GO GO GO GO GO GO because you never know when you're going to be smacked and then there will be nothing for weeks. I'd like more dependability and approach it in a bit more relaxed way, like not feeling guilty for taking off 1 day to recuperate.

But it was good. Still is. I'm not wasting it!

If I recall, Alyeska needed about ten feet to open the upper mountain. I do remember the year over twenty feet fell at my house on the Anchorage hillside. I think I did more shoveling than skiing that year.

Garbage bag will outperform Gore-tex in hydrostatic head test every day of the week. And the fashion statement is definitely retro. (Good old days, indeed.)

for those wondering, basically the entirety of the White Mountains are about to get blown out. I feel it for the ski areas bigly. Those poor bastards. They struggled to open between Covid & a warm November, finally got some skiing going on, missed out on the last big storm, and now...

Still no snow forecast up until the 11th where I live. Second week of January and temperatures of 4°C (39°F) and rain. It's going to get colder around the 11th, but still no snow. The last time it was clear on Christmas day was 40 years ago.

I live fractionally below 70° N, and although we have a European maritime Arctic climate, this is basically unheard of.

After a mess of snow rain and ice from late October on-
the constant white recharge is finally here!
We have been buried in continuous fresh snow for some 10 days now.
I broke trail in deep soft, dryish fluff running over my knees for some 10km uphill on Sunday afternoon and then FLEWWWWWWWWW back to the truck.
Sorry- I know it sucks to be stuck without it.

We ended up with about 8" by yesterday morning. This, on a run that had been closed for a while, so there was about 12" total or so up higher. Still not enough to try out my new Dynastars, though. Especially given the occasional rock. We're still in the drought despite a very good day.
