Any review on Fischer Outback 68 ?

OK...

In fact I'm surching a ski that can go well on hard pack in the groomed classic tracks and of course of tracks !
If we can turn with them nicely and softly, that could be nice.

Asnes Amundsen ?
Rossignol BC 65 ?
Fisher E99 ?

Fischer E-99 Yes, a great classic ski. Fits in the track, makes nice buttery turns with effort and skill. A favorite of mine and others on this forum, and easy to find.

Rossignol BC65 Yes, but E-99 better

Asnes Amundsen Yes, but more for polar travel, not very turny.

Other suggestions: Asnes Borge Ousland BC, made for tracks and turning.

The Gamme 54 just barely fits in track, not super pleasant but it works, kind of. I prefer my E-99 in a track before the Gamme 54 but the Gamme 54 is a better long distance BC ski.

The "fit in the track" AND ALSO "turn" are very difficult to get right without sacrificing something on either side. You should think about two skis-- a track ski and also a turning ski.

For instance, an Asnes MountainTouring51 for tracks and long distance maybe out of tracks (bad for turning), and a FT62 or Rabb68 for turning (bad for flat distances). Or, if you want some turning but also long distance travel but can stay mostly out of tracks, a Gamme 54, which is an amazing long distance ski that also turns with some skill.

E99 seems to be a great ski, I don't notice the Asnes Borge Ousland BC.
I have to try them if possible.

@FrenchFred I am mulling over the same dilemma. Looking at Gamme 54 versus Borge Ousland. Have you tried the Ousland per chance or had any further thoughts? I've now got a pair of FT62s and am looking to complement with a 50% track 50% off track BC ski. I'm leaning to Ousland, Gamme sounds great but maybe a hint too wide for using 50% in groomed tracks.

Some of my friends have the Fischer Outback 68 ski. They are both much fitter than me, but stand absolutely no chance of keeping up with me when I'm skiing.

The Fischer Outback 68, like the Rossignol BC65, is a ski that has good traction, forgiving kick action, and easy, stable control. It gets that by having a relatively soft flex, which slows the ski down when you wanted good glide.

The Fischer Traverse 78 is faster, turns better, and has better float in deeper snow. It gets that by having a stiffer flex, and a slight second camber. The downside is you need to apply more careful kick and glide technique, the upside is you can go faster, further, and turn better with less effort once you have acquired that little bit of extra skill.

The Asnes Gamme, Børge Ousland, and probably the new Otto Sverdrup are another step up in efficiency, again at the cost of having to increase your skill level.

For a beginner who wants to stay in the tracks, the Fischer Spider is probably a good choice. For a beginner who wants to go anywhere (not too steep), the Traverse 78 is almost certainly a better choice than the Outback 68.

@Giorgio 88 will have a great time on his new Fischer Outback 68. As he gets more confident and skis farther into the backcountry, eventually some old man will blow by him because as @riel states, higher performance skis go faster.
Heck, as most of us know there’s always a reason to buy new skis. Going up to a higher performance ski after a season or two is a better reason than many of us have to add yet another ski to the quiver!
However there is no bad reason to buy new skis!
