The Beer Thread

Post by Johnny » Sat Aug 07, 2021 2:21 pm

Hold on a second... How's that possible? This forum is going to be 24 years old this winter, and there is still no official beer thread yet?!? In a place full of skiers, outdoor enthusiasts and New Englanders? Pretty hard to believe!!!

Here is a local one, from the Eastern Townships Brewery: The Sweep. A nice tribute to the guys who are telling us all the time to slow down, to buy leashes, to get real skis, to get out of the woods, that Cross-Country skiing is not allowed here and that nudity is forbidden on the slopes...

"A red IPA with a white froth, reminiscent of the Canadian Ski Patrol colors."

They somehow forgot to mention it, but it is also reminiscent of the CANSI colors... Unfortunately, I cannot tell you how it tastes. I stopped drinking 4 years ago... 8-)

@Johnny ... awesome idea. Although I haven't stopped imbibing, I have slowed down considerably. ¡Cheers! ... ¡Santé!

Notable mentions from the Houston scene below. Both are heavy on the ABV, and heavy on the "lighter hops".

It seems beer isn't as popular as it used to be Johnny, maybe you should start a bacon thread.

I love beer but I'm fighting a medical issue and I haven't had a drop of booze since January. I can't even tell you how much I miss having a cold one with my neighbor on a hot summer afternoon. The simple small pleasures!

So I have to ignore this thread.

I feel for you woods, I'm not on a drinking schedule but I would miss cold one too, especially in the summer. Good luck with your health.

I also enjoy some of this. It’s cheaper than beer, good beer anyway.

Although not beer related, some time in the 1980's my grandmother was flying from Portugal back to USA. She had a jug similar to the picture below. Customs saw something suspect, and when questioned about it, grandma responds by saying the jug contains, "holy water from Fatima." They let her pass with the jug and it's contents without issue... who's going to argue with a little old lady at the airport in the 1980's?

Holy water... more like fire water.

@Johnny the thing that is interesting me is that book. Can you recommend and will it make me a better skier?
