Ski Claws

Post by Bri7 » Mon Apr 11, 2022 6:47 pm

I came accross this unique new technology today. Now sure it’s been covered here before.

Somehow interesting. Not sure the claw will work in deep powder conditions the moving rail system is definitely something i’d like to get my hands on. It looks better than the rail system i came up with a few years ago...

Any thoughts?

In powder kick wax is easy peasy. It’s an interesting idea. I don’t think I would enjoy all the clackity clack in the woods, but it is a very interesting idea. I’m curious if it wouldn’t be really practical in some of those crazy condition Alaska type endurance races.

Im abit confused. Can you ‘lock’ it in place so it doesnt deploy the claw? Is it supposed to be kinda like a climbing crampon you see on at/tech stuff?

I could see myself suddenly tumbling head over heels after accidentally jamming those inside-edge wide crampon arms together in the middle of a quick tele turn, or even get tangled up in a step turn. Tight stances would not be accommodated by these things.

Interesting, cool to see a new idea. I'm always intrigued by gadgets but I don't know how practical it really is. I don't think I'd want my binding sliding around, and I suspect they offer ample opportunity for ice and snow buildup, and would possibly freeze up in a disadvantageous position. Also more weight.

I checked out the website and in their videos they don't even show them going up anything very steep, just running up green/blue angles.

You could just install a Voile crampon onto an xcD ski.

Personally I'm more interested in an adjustable IFP/NIS plate for NNNBC.

FWIW, I read a thread with the creator on some message board I don't remember, and he was defensive and hostile to everyone.

The internet can bring out the worst in people....
Some people don't take criticism well and some people over criticize.

Its a very different product.

Personally I don't hate the overall idea, and the engineering is interesting but it seems clunky and impractical.

This is what I want as well. I could then put my NNN boots out to pasture. I would love to be able to ski my M50'S with my Crispi Norlands and be able to slide the binding fore and aft. Rotte NNNBC Move c'mon get it done Rottefella!

Edit: something is glitching with mentions since I tried to mention the gentleman with the Asian character screen name....

@wabene, I think mentions are working ok.
They can be funky if not typed in correctly.
To do yours, I typed the “@“ then started typing your screen name, which brings up a list to choose from, select name and press enter. See below…

@Stephen Hey Stephen thanks, I do actually know how to do it I just had trouble doing エイダン.シダル's cause I can't type those characters. Then this last one I did didn't quite work for whatever reason. It appears to be working now but I will probably just PM エイダン.シダルwith my question since the mention didn't work. Blah blah blah, BTW your snow conditions are spurring jealously in my heart! Make me proud!
