Longest adjustable poles?

Post by Johnny » Mon Feb 10, 2014 11:14 am

Do you guys know if they make adjustable poles longer than 155cm? I can't find anything anywhere...

I'm 6 feet something and I could really use some like 20cm more when going uphill... My skis float but the poles go all the way down through that fluff... And I'm not sure I wanna bring XC poles every day in the steeps...

Thought about that... But I don't wanna break the bamboo on my vintage poles...!

These ones look nice but so cheap and fake... And not big enough for my taste... I would like big leather & metal ones like in the fifties, but they won't fit adjustable poles...

I really want longer sections...

You might try looking for Leki Super Cross adjustable nordic poles. Same construction as their old adjustable backcountry poles but with a nordic grip, adjustable to 160cm.
I've probably got 400+ days on mine backcountry skiing and will be way sad and looking hard for more if I ever break them! A lot of my up-and-down skiing doesn't happen until I travel several miles along unplowed roads, and I love being able to skate or double-pole efficiently. The nordic grip is great too.

Yeah those Leki nordic poles look cool... The wife has a pair with nordic grip and I like it a lot...

But 160cm is just about the same as my 155cm poles... I just need like 170-175...

Longest I found is a Rossignol 2006 model which went to 165... And some europeen Gipron poles, available nowhere.

Guess I'll have to do it myself...!

I've been told that at upcoming La Skieda Tele-camp (last, final one) they will offer to change any pair of Your beaten poles to latest, tele-specific Gipron (dunno the model/length) for 30 EUR.
I like all kinds of snow. The only poor snow I know of is ice. That better be climbed.

Sorry, I'm not fest-type of guy, won't be there. I much prefer some good tour in relative silence.
