Came here to say, this happened to me with my Alpina Alaska XP boots...about 3 hours into a tour in 27 degree weather...started on my right boot first, one pin would not protrude after getting stuck down, but eventually worked itself back out as I shuffled along, held loosely by one side of the binding, but then the left boot started with the issue, and once back to the house, warming the gear up, applying some WD-40 the pin will still not extend to it's regular position.
I bought the boots from Backcountry.com in 11/2022...and don't know if there are bad production runs, but otherwise I really enjoy the Xplore system.

This probably mean, more than anything, that Rotte is selling a LOT of these right now. About the only way to increase reliability is to sell a ton of units and figure out what's happening on the small number of failures. that's how engineering works.
