Alternatives to Nikwax products

This is the place to debate politics, global warming, and yes, even the origin of man, whatever. Simply put, if you want to argue about off topic stuff, you've found the right board. Have fun!

Alternatives to Nikwax products

Post by JohnSKepler » Mon Jan 16, 2023 3:47 pm

I have nothing against Nikwax products, they're just expensive.

Is anyone using anything other than Techwash and Down Direct for their waterproof-breathable and down gear? This stuff is really expensive and I don't mind taking proper care of it, I'm just not entirely convinced that there aren't other alternatives that work as well, are cheaper, and are easier to find. I'm primarily interested in stuff that's generally locally available. Woolite. Soap flakes. Powdered laundry detergent. Stuff like that. IF IT DOES THE JOB.

Thanks!

John why don’t you try reposting this in the regular section. I am curious as well.
