Do you think Johnny should be doing this with his own money, just for our personal benefit? Is he expected to be a monk taking a vow of poverty? This sounds rather self centered on your part, @connyro. You must think the world revolves around you…

As for traffic, this topic has generated 45000 hits in six weeks (stopped counting at 45k after you entered the areas with your idiocy). It actually contains REAL information, not opinionated bullshit from strap hangers. Point to any threads you STARTED that did that in the same time period.

Not that life is a click contest, but the site needs them to generate whatever is needed to keep it going. It also needs CONTENT on ski related topics, not just old man rants driven by unresolved personal “issues”.

Many of those hits on this thread is you obsessively editing your posts over and over again. Look at you stepping up to the plate to help a site owner gain revenue! Ski jesus is here to save us from those scary old men!

Probably a few hundred clicks, sure. Lots of data points to add, photos to change (there’s always a better one), corrections to make (3/4 of suggestions happily prompted changes). But 45k. LOL. You have quite an imagination there @connyro.

You should try starting a project. Not a question to satisfy your needs… but a project whose content can serve broader knowledge needs. @TallGrass did that with 10th Mountain, which seemed pretty popular. @Theme flagged the new Finnish military ski. @fisheater raised a question about whether his go-to brand was being used. All these things stoked a bit of personal interest to do something for the site.

Could have kept all the info collected to myself. Would have been miserly tho.

Contributing to something other than ourselves can be enriching and rewarding. Contributing to the knowledge base of skiing before the stuff currently at our fingertips disappears from view. Got a lot out of it tho… really made me think. Not just about skis used by militaries but how skiing is done by militaries, and why. Read a great book along the way on the Winter War too… actually text to talk on a few commutes, office calls, and a road trip. Pretty painless. LOL.

As for helping a site owner… sure. Why not? Doesn’t cost anything really… OK a bit of time but the benefit was to the site and members. You gotta give back. Otherwise life devolves to the point where you’re stealing from the collection plate on Sunday or waving your walking stick at the kids playing on the sidewalk. No way to live.

You were making me sleepy for a while. Got over that earlier in the day. Went for a trail ride with a ski buddy (TT lurker). He had a theory… said your posts read like an old man on physical decline. Prolly one or two health scares down… seeing the time coming when you’re having trouble holding yer mud. Lashing out against anybody reminding him of his age, because that gets him thinking about frailty when the lights go out at night. Started out being a crotchety old prick in some blue collar job where thinking and people skills were valued less than leaning on a shovel when the boss wasn’t looking. The worst part is that you know that if you make it to a retirement “home”, you’re going to piss off the people who keep you from making a fool of yourself smearing shit all over the walls.

That last was what made me laugh the most. Think about where this will go for you…

Buddy works the trades and has a few old uncles, so he knows the type. Says you sound just like them. Interesting POV. Wonder how much of it is true?

Well lookie here - Manney's got a thread going that's got some importance to himself. It'd be a real shame if something happened to it: say, something like it got derailed or sent off-topic.
Nah, not really. All the useful data is in part 1,2,3 on the first page.

The latest stuff is just a crotchety old man smearing shit on the walls. It would be funny to look at if it wasn’t so sad.

You know it's funny you say "smearing shit on the walls" because you will note that it's exactly and precisely YOUR shit that's being smeared in this thread. Every ugly, bullying, bigoted thing that manney types goes in here from now on. Honest apologies to the military ski enthusiasts.

You haven’t done anything for military ski enthusiasts.

Who started the thread? Who spent the time tracking down photos, x-refing to civilian models, posting the data?

You came here to smear shit on the walls. Have you? Sure. And real military ski enthusiasts are laughing AT you @connyro. Not as much as they might if you were on skis tho.

You’ve made a fool of yourself. Hard to derail a thread where all the data appears up front. You can’t change those posts or remove the content.

Kinda dumb there @connyro

New ski data listed. Because of trolling by @connyro, won’t highlight where it is contained in sections 1, 2 or 3. Regular readers will spot it.

More to follow… a few more skis under review atm.
