I think most agree that the Freeride is inferior in a couple ways to other NTN bindings, especially the 22 Designs Outlaw.

It was the first NTN binding developed and had some quirks That were sorted out in other models. They have a sort of dead zone right off the ski. Some people found the flex to be not to their liking. Many people ride them, many like it, and they can be found for cheap-ish. They ski well especially in bounds. If you are buying new I would say get the Outlaw or BMF, even the Freedom.

I think you summed it up well.
My first try at NTN was the Freeride and I thought I'd forgotten how to tely, the first couple of days. For me, I think that was due to the force required to move past that initial knee bend. Very active - in an odd way.

Also the "wings" on either side of the toe dug into my boots and then started to break off.
The damage to the boots and the tendency to break off also were features of the Freedom.

I don't go BC anymore and really like my Meidjos, but both of my sons are thinking of going from the Meidjo to 22 designs. I prefer the more neutral Meidjo, but for reliability, it's hard to beat the 22.

OP: What was your concern regarding the Bent 100 with the NTN? Driving that ski with any NTN will be fine.

They ski well but are very heavy, even on piste for my taste. I mounted them on Volkl Kendo 88’s for piste and the combination of heavy ski and heavy binding was a bit too much. I ended up installing Meidjos on them. just skied them once and they felt quite different, the Meidjo has a bigger range of motion, vs the Freeride kind of reaching a limit, which is why they feel very powerful once you are on full tele stance, but weird I’m between. I like the more consistent feeling of the Meidjo. Also have a pair of old k2 skis which I mounted with freerides for offpiste at the resort, but liked them so much that I’d like to use them for touring too, so I ordered inserts to mount Meidjos. Will perhaps keep inserts for Freerides too, to be able to test different skis the same day.

Can't comment on the Freerides, but I do ski the Bent 100s. Mine are set up with Meidjo 3.0, and I have no problem driving those skis.
