Fischer Traverse Boots for Xplore Binding

Post by voilenerd » Wed Jan 03, 2024 12:10 am

Surprised there is very little information and reviews on Fischer’s new Traverse boot so why not start a new thread for the New Year!

Stay tuned. Here are some initial thoughts of the new boot.

-One of the tallest cuffs of the Xplore boots available
-Thick insulation for the coldest days and comfortable fit
-Sole flex to be determined. For reference, I didn’t care for the flex of the Alfa Vista boot and lower cuff. Felt like I was trying to flex a 2x4 and led to foot pain. If the Vista had a more supportive cuff you could take advantage of the stiff sole.
-Roomy toe box
-One of the heaviest Xplore boots available. But I am more interested in turns then cruising flats so not really a flaw.
-Lighter than lugging around T4s. So that light in my book.

I had and was quite impressed with the 75mm version of this boot, the Transnordic 75. Most dh friendly 75mm boot on the market, barring hard plastic boots.
It gave toe crunch to some people here though.
Be sure to give us feedback on it's use.

Gonna test my new boots this weekend. So far these are the most comfortable, tight fitting boots in all the right places I’ve ever worn. Feels like I can wear these boots all day touring and no complaints! Zero heel slip and plenty of wiggle room for my wide foot. No foot pain flexing sole. Just as comfy as my Scarpa F3 or T2 with less weight.

Fischer got these right in my book. Love the cushion on the inside pad on tongue. Plus to top things off snow heading our way by weekend!

I’ve never tried Fischer boots before, but you make them sound very appealing. Where are you going to test?

I quite like that boot. It really drove my Green Man last year and I’m very curious as to how they’re going work with some of my other skis this year…especially interested in seeing if they’ll push my Rossi BC 120 wax ski.

I own a pair of fisher bcx traverse for almost a year now and I really like these boots. They are the most comfortable and warm backcountry boot I’ve ever own.
But I recently notice this failure and I wonder if someone had experience this problem too?
I’m wandering myself if I glue it or try to contact fisher for warranty.

Interesting, 2nd Xplore boot in the last week to show an issue.

Just had a look at my Traverse, no sign of failure there. Before attempting to repair them I’d contact and send pictures to Fischer AND take it back to who you purchased it from…if it was mail order I’d send photos to whoever you purchased it from.

Used them on the Metsäs a couple of times, they really drive that ski in heavier snow.

@Inspiredcapers how do you think the flex of the sole is on the Fischer boots? Is it hard to keep the ball of foot down?

How significant is the support difference between these and the Pi Tech?

Got myself the Rabb 68 and instantly started looking for a stiffer boot too :D

Is the leather painted/coated like in previous versions of the boot?

Neither the Crispi or Alfa fit me so maybe Fischer is the way to go
