I will ski ADK slides with you guys, I will keep an eye on the forums next year to join in.

Just returned from a weekend down there, and hiked Iroquois, Algonquin, and Wright... amazing looking slides abound. Trap Dyke off of Colden looks superb.

I'm not very knowledgeable about slides, but I think generally late winter/early spring is the better time for those because of avalanche risk. Not a sure thing, but keep an eye on what the Whiteface slides are doing and it might give you an idea of when the BC slides will be more skiable.

There are a LOT more slides than Wright - but those are pretty easy to get to. If you are really interested there is a book written by a local on most of the popular slides in that area:

There's plenty of good stuff to ski in Gatineau, especially if you like cross country skiing. The Parc de la Gatineau is paradise for XC, with over 200 of KMs of classic, and 100 km skate, and plenty of great backcountry xc trails as well.

For lift served fun, Mt. Ste Marie is an hour north, and it strikes a good balance, being much closer than Tremblant, less than half the cost, decent vertical, and with a fun set of 5 different fairly steep runs. Local hills, like Camp Fortune (where I do my night skiing), are decent for weeknights, and this one is just 12 minutes away from home

I've tried exploring some more serious backcountry around the park, have hiked in with my tele's in a couple of spots only to link just a few turns. I've been wanting to get out to the Eardley Escarpment for steep and fun run, I know some spots where it opens up.. just need the snow, afraid I missed a good opportunity last winter.

J'ai des photos a partager avec vous! They are totally appropriate for this thread, given the subject name Hoth. These were taken near Finse, Norway... the actual filming location for Hoth in Star Wars!

I'm guessing a big reason why this location was chosen for filming is because of the cross country train line from Oslo to Bergen runs right through this area. It would make bringing all the filming equipment and AT-ATs a lot easier.

This was while I was on a semester exchange during university in 2007, of course I had to bring my XC skis with me while living in Oslo. Clocked in lots of mileage around this beautiful tundra area, just outside of Oslo, and near Lillehammer too.
