Why not just wear pants made from a highly breathable soft-shell stretch fabric like Schoeller and wear a wool base layer? Works for me on two week tours, no odors. Haglofs, Norrona, ArcTerryx, others, all make good ones for ski touring.

I ski in a pair like that with fleece lining and should get a non insulated pair for when its over 25 degrees. There's a lot of army surplus out there made by Beyond Clothing. Its L5 cold weather stuff. Not only is it super stretchy but you're less likely to tear it up on branches and rocks.

They don't come more old school than me, at least I don't think. Use to ski in wool trousers and even had wool knickers. Still have some woolies, but man I love my sport hill pants.
That being said, my skiing is a different style fom mosttelemarkers. Mostly touring through woods with moderate downhills, and the majority of the time on wood skis and 3 pins. The sporthills flex easily, shed the wind, I don't overheat in them and if I wish, readily accommodate long johns and wind briefs. ( poly of course, or merino wool, cotton kills".

Merril Ultra boots, awesome! Used wool forever until I put on my old leather knickers from the time my wife got them thinking she got leather shorts. Man do they protect from whips. They last a long time and while heavier than most clothing they work in the Bush. Merino and Leathers make a big difference in below zero windy weather. TM
