Tom my guess is Scarpa will sell out this season for the new boot with all the pre orders. If you’re on the fence I would order sooner rather than later.

I've been checking daily to see if anyone has them in stock. My hope is that REI will carry them. I really want to do a carpet fitting before the season begins, and if the boots seem too stiff and burley for my liking and heavier in weight than what is being published, then I'll return them to REI in Jackson and stick with my current quiver for this season. My plan is to pull the Xplore bindings off my Hypervectors and remount with the 22 designs Lynx.

I pre-ordered a pair from my local Scarpa shop and have been hassling them for a delivery ETA. After saying "two weeks" as recently as Friday, I learned today that my money is being refunded and they won't get any of the new TX Pros until January. REI in Santa Fe has confirmed to me that they will not carry the either...no idea if the online shops that claim an October delivery on pre-orders are legit, wish I knew where to trust.

I can drive over and ask Scarpa SPA in Asolo they are 48 minutes from me on google maps. In fact most of the world's plastic ski boots and many leather ones (Alico et al) are made within an hour of here. 1/2 an hour the other direction is the Perwanger tannery that makes the best boot leather in the world (glad they are not in my sewage district!).

Looks like REI has some new stock of the Fischer Traverse 78 and the 88's. The photos show easy skin compatibility.

Looks like REI is back to their old game of not understanding the weight of the skis. 9 lbs a pair Maybe this is the new and improved version that are all metal construction with lignostone edges. They currently have sizes from 169 to 199 cm, but when you select any size, it says "low inventory". I wonder what that means for availability this winter?

Hi Tom. Hope you are getting some early season Rockies powder.

I zoomed on the Traverse 78 photo on the Fischer website, on the images for dealers section (it is a 7mb .tiiff file)- the top sheet (surprisingly) says- Austria, and the Easyskin is back for sure. Last year's was made in China and year before in CZ. The problem being that the enormous Fischer factory in western Ukraine burned down in 2020 and was rebuilt, just in time for the Russian onslaught. It is currently not operational due to staff being conscripted- for over 30 years it made most of Fischer skis and a lot of other brands too. They have their own forest and lumber operation there- a tree-to-ski factory, state of the art. A victim of war for the time being.

Two shops in America have inventory in addition to REI- Great Lakes Outlet and Curated (a website with a design for people who spend too much time with their phones).

I am buying a pair of 78s from Sport Conrad in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. They will have them in stock mid-October.

Maybe the stocking is slow because they are trying to get rid of the Chinese ones that have no Easyskin attachment?

I hope the Ukraine factory is functioning!! It is over near the Hungarian border pretty far from the lines and and from Kiev. Their problem was labor with the men off fighting and the women "manning" many of the essential industries like energy production, etc.

This from a post I put up some time ago, it is a release from Fischer:

"Fischer has been operating a major production facility in Ukraine for over 30 years in addition to its headquarters in Ried im Innkreis, Austria. This factory is in the city of Mukachevo, located in the western Transcarpathian region of Ukraine, 750km from Kiev.

Rebuilt after a large fire in 2020, the ski production plant in Ukraine was completed and put into operation in the first half of 2022, despite the start of the war. Currently, around 100 of the employees in Mukachevo have been drafted to serve in the army. Due to the long-standing economic and personal connections with the country as well as the colleagues on site, the conflict affects Fischer economically - and above all humanly - particularly strongly."

Fischer—the world’s largest ski manufacturer—produced around sixty percent of its skis across all disciplines at the Ukrainian site, which handled ski production for several other brands as well. In all, it has been reported that a quarter of the world’s skis came out of the Mukachevo factory."
