Backcountry Nordic Ski Races
Hi all, Does anybody know if ungroomed Nordic races are still a thing in North America? Google searches pretty much yield the following results; 'In the spirit of the tough old bastards who brought Nordic skiing to this area approx 100,000,000 years ago, we will be holding a 20km classic race held on the finest groomed tracks. Lycra speed suits are encouraged and a mobile wax trailer staffed with Swix PHD's will be present to diagnose limp sticks that will not gain purchase or glide in 19-21F degree silk snow with 69% humidity'. Or the races online flyer will encourage 'Helmets, ski crampons, and the importance of a full transition with the skier to be fully in downhill mode for the descent segments'. Where are the ungroomed XC races??

Well there are races that have multiple entry disciplines like fat pursuit. That takes place on snowmobile groomed trails? Or there’s that team race in Alaska….i cant remember the name!
Just a couple options.

Re: Backcountry Nordic Ski Races
Most Nordic races now focus on groomed tracks with lots of support, but there are still some ungroomed, back-to-basics races out there. Check with local backcountry or Nordic clubs—they sometimes host races on natural terrain where you’re truly on your own.
