That Fireball stuff is awesome on a trek- warms you immediately! Also creates the illusion of being 10’ tall and bulletproof.

Re: Booze
I smoked from 18 to 27, quit, started again from 36 to 42 having quit exactly 14 months ago cold turkey. Second go around the only ones I used were American Spirit full flavored (black, turquoise, blue, roll my own), 20 to 25 per day, didn't have any real lung issues as yet--could go xc ski hard 4 hours no problem, break for a smoke once or twice. Had a significant cough though, especially at night/morning. Even so, quitting cigarettes was/is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, and I have done plenty of difficult things--that's how integral they were/are to my life. The fact I still use present tense despite not having one for over a year betrays that. The thought of deteriorating lungs/throat/pocketbook is all that keeps me from going back, though I imagine my neurotic mental health would improve. Congrats on quitting, @Lhartley.
When hiking or skiing if I am out for a couple hours or longer I will bring a can or two of beer, style depends on the season and mood. Liquor is strictly for after, although I guess a 4oz flask of vodka or brandy or aquavit if it's really cold would be a nice thing to carry, whether I use or it not. Taking a couple-day trip coming up, mostly xc unless there's enough snow for some downhill fun, have cans of Okocim (Polish pale lager), Kostritzer (German black lager), Prairie Rainbow (Oklahoma sour), Miller's Lite (MILWUAKEE), and probably a variety from Great Lakes (Ohio). Also likely a fifth of vodka and smoked lake trout or whitefish, excellent combination.

yeah I stopped burning tobacco, I found the best system for me is slicing off a small piece of robusto cigar from south america, and sticking it in the upper front gum line. gives a nice high, goes well with coffee . cigars are not treated with chemicals so I don't feel the addiction when using this way. I can go a week or month without any cravings for tobacco now. Snuff was nasty and needed a lot to get a buzz off it, and the boogers are gross, lol

When flying into Norway- on arrival hit the duty-free shop to avoid the lethal Scandi alcohol taxes, and pick up a bottle of this cognac in a lightweight PET bottle. Great for doing fancy turns and advanced snow-angels.

Sometimes Jaegermeister. Too much can affect performance! More than a little Native American in my gene pool.
